Just a few quick takes. And it's not even Friday.

It's 100 degree Fahrenheit outside, and 80 degrees in my living room, and probably slightly hotter than that where I sit and type here in my office. That means it is too hot for a post of any length or depth. Instead, a few random thoughts:

News: My baby is walking! Not more than 5 or 6 steps, but she's definitely realizing that she was designed to be a bipedal creature, and that walking *might* eventually be quicker and more efficient than crawling.

Coolest fast-food kids' meal prize ever? The current offering at Wendy's: full-length audiobooks of several Magic Treehouse books. The girls love "The Magic Treehouse" and they are enchanted that now we can listen to them in the car, too. I've been twice in the last several weeks so that I could get more than one different CD. Way to go, Wendy's!

We're planning on taking the kids to River Rhythms this Thursday. It's the first time we've gone as a family. Fellow Albanyites: Tips on kids at the concert? Best places to sit (aka where people won't be bothered if our kids are antsy and dancy and wiggly)? How early should we get there? And--very important for parents of a recently-potty-trained child to know: do they have bathrooms at Monteith Park?

That's it. All you get from me today. I am off in search of ice tea, or ice water, or perhaps a cup of ice, just plain ice. Oregonians are not hot-weather people.

I grew up going to River Rhythms! To get a really good seat (i.e. not in front of the speakers), you should probably be out there around 4 (my mom used to stake out a spot with a book while we played). As that sounds icky in this heat, we have, in recent years, shown up at 6 or 6:30 and just sat on the side. There's plenty of space, and if the kids want to run around, there's lots of room down by the stage. Also, there are restrooms, if you face the stage, on the right-hand side. Hope that helps!

My house is 86 degree! This weather STINKS! We were definitely not acclimatized for this! Monteith park does have bathrooms, the cleanliness is sometimes negotiable, bu there are toilets. Never been to River Rhythms, but have so much fun and tell me all about it!

Man, I am so heading to Wendy's this week!

We will look for you at RR! The Coats *rock.* Fantastic family-friendly show. Anywhere you sit should be fine, but you may want to look to the edges of the crowd for maximum wiggle room. Get close enough to hear well and see facial expressions - they are very funny. Yes, there are restrooms, but the line can be LONG. See you there!

thanks for the tip on Wendy's! I hope it's the same promo down here. :) i feel your pain with the weather. I should be used to it, living down here. and I probably am more acclimated than I used to be. but it's still hot. Our house doesn't really ever get cooler than 80 degrees (without having a super enormous electric bill). But 80 is definitely cooler than 100 or higher. :) It always makes me laugh that 80 feels somewhat cool in the summer but in the winter we heat it up to 68 to keep warm. :)

Funny because the weather here in Michigan has been CRAP. Usually in late July it's 95. The warmest it has gotten is 81. there was ONe day in june, but that doesn't count. We get 6 months of snow, so we look forward to our 6 weeks of warm winter all year and we're getting JIPPED!
